On The Twisted Nether Blizzcon Round Table Tonight!

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

tnb_smallI’ll be joining the Twisted Nether Blogcast again for a round table discussion tonight!  It’ll include Hydra of Almost Evil and Brigwyn of The Hunting Lodge, as well as myself (and the hosts, of course). We’re going to discuss all the excitement of BlizzCon, since we were all there to enjoy it.

You can join us live tonight at 9:30PM PST (12:30AM EST) on UStream! If you’re unable to make it to the live show, make sure you download it post-production.

Getting Twisted! (Tonight at 9:30 PST)

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

TNB_NewLogo144The Twisted Nether Blogcast has invited me to join them for an interview!  I’ll be joining Fimlys and Nibuca to record for the next TNB tonight!

I’m gonna need to hit Tim Hortons beforehand, because 12:30AM EST is waaay past my bed time!

If you’d like to come and listen in live, you can get some more info by visiting the Twisted Nether page.  And if you can’t make it to the live recording, you can always download the episode after!  I’m sure I’ll post a link to it.  Well… as long as I don’t say something horriblly stupid and want to bury it for ever and ever! *shifty eyes*

6 Ways to Deal with Blogger’s Block

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Lately I just haven’t had much idea of what to write about.  Of course, I can keep everyone updated on where my alts are and how we’re progressing in raids… but I like to post useful, helpful posts on occasion.

The problem is, I haven’t been able to think of what!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who comes up against this issue once in a while.  So I’ve compiled a list of resources that I find helpful in this situation.  These are all ways to jump start your writing.  If you have any other tips, please let me know!

Blog Azeroth Shared Topic

Every week, Blog Azeroth/Twisted Nether writes a topic that they’d like to get others opinions on.  Not only is this a great way to get inspiration for what to write, but it’s also a good way to get your name out there.  Post in the forums and let them

Blog Azeroth Forums

The rest of the forums are also a great place for ideas.  There’s a Blogstorming forum as well as a forum for swapping guest posts.

Other Blogs

If you’re a WoW blogger, chances are you also read a lot of other WoW blogs.  Find an interesting post?  Don’t just comment on it… write your own post discussing why you agree/disagree with it, or expand on the topic.  Bloggers love to have such in depth feedback, just be sure to link back to the original post you enjoyed!

Twitter

Twitter is a great place to meet other WoW players and discuss the game with them.  It’s also a great place to get blogging help.  All you have to do is ask!  Ask if anyone has a topic they would like covered, ask opinions and do an analysis of them.  You can also just listen: “I wish there was a post out there about …” or “Can someone write or point me in the direction of a post about …” are good starting points if you see them.

Official Forums

Nibuca (Mystic Chicanery) made this suggestion to me, and I think it’s a great idea.  It never would have crossed my mind as I avoid the Official Forums like the plague!  Just venture on in, head to an applicable forum (Achievements, Hunter, Quests, etc.) and find the first question you can answer, then write a post about it.

Write a story

I was never into creative writing much, but I’ve found I quite enjoy it now that I’ve written a few things based on my WoW Characters.  You’ll never know until you try!  Expand on your characters, give them a history.

Are You More Creative than a Pile of Poo?

Wednesday, May 20th, 2009

I’m sure not.

But if you are, it’s time to flex your artistic muscles!   There are a number of WoW related contests running right now, and I’d like everyone to have an opportunity to get some sweet stuff and show off their talents.

Twisted Nether’s T-shirt Contest

TNB is hosting a t-shirt design contest!  They’d like to get some nice looking t-shirts that we can all purchase and wear for the meetup at Blizzcon.  Prizes are:

  • 1st: 60 day WoW card [and your's will be the art we use for our blizzcon shirts that we will wear there],
  • 2nd and 3rd: Chioce of loot cards that Fim happens to have lying around.. (slashdance, footsteps of illidan, pet biscuit)

Spooncraft’s T-shirt Contest

Spooncraft is also looking for t-shirt designs!  (Who knew t-shirt design was such a lucrative hobby?)  They’re hoping to bring some people in for Blizzcon… what a sweet deal!  I’ve already got my Blizzcon and plane tickets, but if you don’t… be sure to enter!  Prizes:

  • One Grand Prize Winner will receive a FREE ticket to Blizzcon 2009, a FREE stay at the hotel where the Spooncraft crew will be staying, and hell I’ll even pay for $500 worth in air fare. That sound good to you?
  • One First Prize Winner will receive a Beta key for an up coming Blizzard game.
  • Three Second Prize Winners will get a 30 day WoW Game Card.

Xoxide’s Video Contest

They’re looking for some specific types of videos here – parodies, live action or dubbed.  If you’re into machinima or LARPing, give it a shot!  I’m looking forward to seeing the entries, at least.  Prizes:

  • 3 Winners Will Receive a World of Warcraft Gaming Mouse & Exclusive Gaming Gear Prize Package!

Go forth and CREATE!
