“Need More Stable Slots!” SPCA Charity Drive & Giveaway

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Long has the cry from the Hunter community been heard:  “We need more stable slots!”

Well, Blizzard finally came to our rescue in patch 3.0.2 by adding an extra 2 stable slots for every Hunter.

Now it’s time to return the favour to our real-life pet counterparts!

What better way to celebrate the 1 year anniversary and 250th post of Mend Pet than to help out a charity who does exactly that?

I’ll be holding charity drive/contest until July 31st, so make sure you get your donations/entries in before then!

The Charity

spca_logoThe SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is constantly working to provide health care and shelters for pets and animals that have been abandoned and abused.  All the pets I’ve ever had have come from local shelters, which would not exist without the help of charities like this and their doughty volunteers.

The money you give helps support our many volunteer programs — and, of course, helps animal shelters too. These shelters need financial support from outside sources (like the SPCA) for operating expenses, including food, shelter, vaccinations and veterinary costs. They cannot do it alone.

I’d like to ask for your help in raising as much money as we can towards helping this worthy cause!

Prizes available so far:

Everyone who donates, no matter how big or little the donation is, will get TWO ENTRIES into a prize drawing.

Also, everyone who promotes this charity drive somewhere such as on their blog, forums, or podcast will get one (additional, if applicable) entry.  You MUST e-mail me at brajana.mendpet@gmail.com with a link if you’d like to be considered!

Drawing will be held at the beginning of August, so again, make sure you get your donations in before July 31st!

To donate & enter the draw, follow these instructions:

  2. Fill out your information and select the appropriate donation amount.
(You must follow the rest of these steps if you would like to be entered in the draw)
  3. Check off the box for “I’d like to dedicate my donation to a friend or loved one at no extra charge.”
  4. Select in honor of as the type of dedication.
  5. Fill in Mend Pet and brajana.mendpet@gmail.com as the Honoree details, and say Yes to “Is this person the honoree?”
  6. In the Optional Message, enter your e-mail address along with your character name/realm, blog, twitter account, or whatever other information you’d like to be used to identify you.

You can see an example of what your form should look like here:

If you would like to contribute another way, I really need help getting together some prizes for this event!

So if you’ve got any talents or services you’d like to share, any spare loot cards sitting around, or would be willing to throw in a J!NX gift card or WoW time card (or anything else, really!) to help promote the drive, I would appreciate the help so much!

If you are interested or would like more information about lending a hand, please send me an e-mail at brajana.mendpet@gmail.com!

LFG Charity Auction!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Many of you I’m sure are aware and perhaps even rabid fans of the Looking For Group fantasy web comic series by Ryan Sohmer and Lar DeSouza.  Well, they’ve decided to hold a Charity Auction selling LFG-inspired art works to raise funds for Le Cafe, a great Montreal-based charity.

They’re also even auctioning a chance to get yourself a guest spot in the comic… the honorable position of getting yourself killed by Richard!

Unfortunately I’m in no financial situation to be donating nearly the amounts I’m sure these wonderful pieces of art will go for, so I figured helping get the word out is the least I could do! (See what I did there?)

So check out the beautiful artwork and help support a great charity!  My favourite is certainly Richard: Fire or Cold by J. Leigh, but they’re all great.
