whisper

Got a friendly whisper from a fellow Hydraxian Hunter last night, right before heading into Ulduar!  To be honest, I didn’t think anyone on my server (other than a few dear guildies) read this!

So, /wave to Charmikal of <Snuggles>!  Thanks for reading, and I hope I keep the blog up to your standard! :)   See you around Dalaran!

Oh… and yes, Tigerfeet and I talk about sauerkraut!  What of it?!

New Pike-a-licious Avatar!

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

A few weeks back, Pike from Aspect of the Hare opened up commissions on her adorable hand-crafted avatars.  I realized what a great little gift that would make for my sweetie!  But of course… he wasn’t going to get one if I didn’t get one!  So I sent in my two requests :)

And here’s the result:

Isn’t it cute?!  Look at happy little Ambrose, floating at my side!  Awww!  Even got my Journey’s End and Siren’s Cry in there.  I’m a very happy Troll!

And here’s the one I sent to Gadgetsnguns for his birthday yesterday:

Unfortunately there wasn’t much room to fit the gun in there, but he’s got his Tiger and his Tabard of the Achiever, which are both quite important to my little Dwarf.  He loved it!

Thanks Pike!

6 Ways to Deal with Blogger’s Block

Tuesday, June 9th, 2009

Lately I just haven’t had much idea of what to write about.  Of course, I can keep everyone updated on where my alts are and how we’re progressing in raids… but I like to post useful, helpful posts on occasion.

The problem is, I haven’t been able to think of what!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who comes up against this issue once in a while.  So I’ve compiled a list of resources that I find helpful in this situation.  These are all ways to jump start your writing.  If you have any other tips, please let me know!

Blog Azeroth Shared Topic

Every week, Blog Azeroth/Twisted Nether writes a topic that they’d like to get others opinions on.  Not only is this a great way to get inspiration for what to write, but it’s also a good way to get your name out there.  Post in the forums and let them

Blog Azeroth Forums

The rest of the forums are also a great place for ideas.  There’s a Blogstorming forum as well as a forum for swapping guest posts.

Other Blogs

If you’re a WoW blogger, chances are you also read a lot of other WoW blogs.  Find an interesting post?  Don’t just comment on it… write your own post discussing why you agree/disagree with it, or expand on the topic.  Bloggers love to have such in depth feedback, just be sure to link back to the original post you enjoyed!

Twitter

Twitter is a great place to meet other WoW players and discuss the game with them.  It’s also a great place to get blogging help.  All you have to do is ask!  Ask if anyone has a topic they would like covered, ask opinions and do an analysis of them.  You can also just listen: “I wish there was a post out there about …” or “Can someone write or point me in the direction of a post about …” are good starting points if you see them.

Official Forums

Nibuca (Mystic Chicanery) made this suggestion to me, and I think it’s a great idea.  It never would have crossed my mind as I avoid the Official Forums like the plague!  Just venture on in, head to an applicable forum (Achievements, Hunter, Quests, etc.) and find the first question you can answer, then write a post about it.

Write a story

I was never into creative writing much, but I’ve found I quite enjoy it now that I’ve written a few things based on my WoW Characters.  You’ll never know until you try!  Expand on your characters, give them a history.

Memeday: My Album!

Friday, May 15th, 2009

Looks like I have been tagged!  And I’m glad for it, because this meme looks like a lot of fun :)

Thanks to Animagis at Tree Stand for the tag!

You can see some others previously posted by Softi, Faulsey, Kestrel and Ratters.

Here’s how it goes:

1 – Go to “wikipedia.” Hit “random… Read More”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 – Go to “Random quotations”
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
3 – Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 – Use photoshop or similar to put it all together.

I took it one step further and used whatever font and font colour I had last used in Photoshop (well, I changed the colour for the album name).

maldivefish

The quote was actually a Ghandi quote too, that was pretty cool. :)   I was kind of surprised how well all 3 fit together!  Fish… ocean… water… nice.

LFG Charity Auction!

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Many of you I’m sure are aware and perhaps even rabid fans of the Looking For Group fantasy web comic series by Ryan Sohmer and Lar DeSouza.  Well, they’ve decided to hold a Charity Auction selling LFG-inspired art works to raise funds for Le Cafe, a great Montreal-based charity.

They’re also even auctioning a chance to get yourself a guest spot in the comic… the honorable position of getting yourself killed by Richard!

Unfortunately I’m in no financial situation to be donating nearly the amounts I’m sure these wonderful pieces of art will go for, so I figured helping get the word out is the least I could do! (See what I did there?)

So check out the beautiful artwork and help support a great charity!  My favourite is certainly Richard: Fire or Cold by J. Leigh, but they’re all great.
